The death penalty has always been a controversial issue and a political movement has grown calling for the abolition of death penalty throughout the world. China has been repeatedly criticized for its extensive use of the death penalty. In light of the defects of the death penalty system and recent calls for a moratorium on executions, many people are calling for serious reform of the system. Even those people, who did not support the complete abolition of death penalty in China, also showed their strong advocate for limiting the scope of death penalty, to further reducing the death penalty executions.
