Ci (詞) is a special type of Chinese classical poetry, a sort of lyrics which can be sung when set to music.This book selects more than 300 lyrics written by 25 poets of the Tang Dynasty and the Five Dynasties. They are the most notable practitioners and developers of ci such as Li Bai, Zhang Zhihe, Bai Juyi, Wen Tingyun, Wei Zhuang, Niu Qiao, Sun Guangxian, Feng Yansi, Li Yu, etc. Their works represent a brilliant achievement of Chinese literature.
Dr. Xie Yanming is a professor of translation studies at Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. He also works as a full-time professor of English at Wuchang University of Technology. His academic interest includes studies of Chinese and English poetry.
