This book is about Jaffna Tamil culture expressed by the writers of Jaffna Tamil in English during the post colonial era. Focusing on the ways in which the Tamil identity and culture have influenced both the production and critical reception of the writing in English from Jaffna, the writings of six Jaffna Tamils are selected to read Jaffna between the lines by revealing historical background of Jaffna, representation of Tamil women in fiction, socio-economic life of 'Jaffnese', the role of religion in preserving culture, the impact of war and conflict and nativization of English by Jaffna writers.
