The increase in population leads to a high risk of food security in developing countries. Sustainable food production is essential to mitigate the malnutrition and risk of food security. The intensive agriculture has high risks of pesticides and environmental degradation due to pesticide and heavy metal pollution reduces the peoples for access to healthy food. The agriculture in the urban and peri-urban areas by means of rooftop gardening and kitchen gardening is one of the ways for healthier food, food security, alleviate malnutrition, food mile reduction, and economic benefit to achieve a sustainable society
