Africans are living with pain yet only less than 28 countries have implemented palliative care in the past 31 years post 1987 establishment of first hospice in Zimbabwe. Sholars have pointed lack of policy,opiophobia syndrome,politics,poor education, gossip,greedy and corruption among obstacles for take off. The global palliative care initiatives and paradox of leadership and management could have cured the obstacles. Since 2003 the author has been reader ,educator and scholar of Palliative Care in Africa.He co-founded the birth of Palliative Care policy guidelines and Palliative Care Association of Malawi -PACAM.He contributed four chapters in Malawi and Tanzania health workers training Manual .He is well trained in Palliative care in Malawi,Uganda,UK and USA.
