This book has been successful to describe and validate design and performance of a new instrument to measure the thermal resistance of fabrics. The unique feature of this instrument, developed in the Department of Textile Technology, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, is that it allows to measure using two important International standards: ASTM as well as BS. The instrument is connected to a desktop computer and temperature versus time data is easily recorded and displayed using a code written in C programming language. Both the design and the code are reproducible and this book contains the entire details required to develop the instrument. This book will be interesting for instrument developers, students and teachers of textile engineering, testing as well as heat transfer measurement specialists.
Dr. Kausik Bal has been involved in research in the interdisciplinary fields of textile technology since 2001 and has worked in India, Hong Kong, Czech Republic, Switzerland and USA. He has published his work in various journals across many disciplines and is an expert in modeling and measuring heat & mass transfer properties of fibrous materials.
