Critical discourse analysis is a type of analytical studies that deals with how social power, abuse, dominance, and equality are legislated, reduplicated, and hold by the writer and speaker in the political and social discourse (van Dijk, 1998:1). With this in mind, CDA aims to understand, revel, and finally resist social inequality. Thus, the present study fulfills a critical discourse analysis study of the radical Islamist news in American newspapers, represented by the New York Times and USA Today. The study attempts to answer questions such as; how radical Islamists are presented linguistically in the discourse of the articles, do American newspapers manipulate the language in order to serve certain ideologies, and whether radical Muslims are considered as representative of Muslims in general.
