Stainless steel weld defect is due to the number of process parameters, which make it difficult to achieve a defect free weld. Many non destructive testing (NDT) methods are used for quality assessment and detection of defects in welds and materials. The techniques vary according to weld material, weld thickness and weld process and code requirements. Ultrasonic testing in NDT is one of the largest applications in weld inspection. A brief introduction to the Ultrasonic testing of Stainless steel welds is enumerated.
Dr.Lalithakumari.S has completed her Ph.D in the faculty of Electronics Engineering from Sathyabama University, India. She is working as Associate Professor in Sathyabama. She has gained a teaching experience of 20 years.Her research interests are Signal / Image processing & Non Destructive Testing. She has published around 50 papers in journals.
