Summary:
This course presents electromagnetic transformers for use in power and sensing applications. It is prepared for high-level technical, engineering, and non-engineering students working in various industrial facilities and power grids. The book also highlights some special types of transformers. By the end of this course, the students should be able to: (a) State the basics of electromagnetism, magnetic properties of materials, magnetic circuits, and electromagnetic induction; (b) Describe the construction, operation principles, and cooling methods of single-phase and three-phase power transformers; and (c) Describe the principles, functions, and applications of instrument transformers as electromagnetic induction based sensors.
