Summary:
Factors Affecting Spore Germination and infection of Botrytis cinerea. The Botrytis infection of cucumber fruits in a greenhouse appears as an invasive gray rot of the fruit. In the spring, the fungus germinates from small, dark-colored, hard over-seasoning structures known as sclerotia. The fungus then produces asexual spores (conidia) that spread the disease.
