One of the contemporary global effects of environmental change that is no longer debatable is flooding. This is as a result of the fact that floods are among the most devastating natural disasters in the world, claiming more lives and causing more property damage than any other natural phenomena. As a result of which the impacts of these floods are usually far reaching with physical, socioeconomic cum humanitarian losses which is more often than not associated by massive destruction of residential accommodations, means of livelihood, transportation routes, farms, and animals, Public utility installations, Markets, and more regrettably loss of human lives which supplementary perpetrate socioeconomic hardships in unprecedented and unimaginable dimensions. In Nigeria, flood affects and displaces more people than any other natural disaster. The effects have not been palatable due to the fact that it has claims more lives and millions of properties got lost due to the occurrence and reoccurrences of this untamed menace.
