The land utilization pattern revealed that in the Konkan region, barren and unculturable land, area under other fallows and net sown area was decreased during the study period. There were structural changes in land utilization pattern with positive growth rates of area under non-agricultural use, current fallows and area sown more than once. The growth in production and productivity of rice crop has increased by 0.87 and 1.22 per cent. The growth in the production and productivity in terms of total cereals, total food grains, total oilseeds, total pulses and Sapota has also increased over the study period. There was an increase in area under HYV rice at the rate of 1.18 per cent in Konkan region. Exceptionally, in Sindhudurg district growth in HYV area was at the rate of 3.04 per cent. In case of coconut, contribution of yield to output growth was to the tune of 497.86 per cent, whereas, the area effect and interaction effect was negative and positive with the magnitude of 597.62 and 199.76 per cent, respectively.
