Utilization of renewable energy source is increasing vigorously in India. Solar energy has the most potential and extensively used in the world. It has impacted the life in villages where grid connection is not available. Stand-alone PV-battery combination is regularly used in the household. Battery management system which monitors the maintenance of the battery including the charging and discharging current to prolong the battery life. In this book work is carried out on the different configurations used for PV-battery combination. A new method of charging of the battery which is MPPT based charging is also proposed which employs the current mode control along with slope compensation circuit. The results are compared with traditional method to show the efficiency of the system. Work is also carried out in form of the fully optimized fuzzy logic MPPT controller which performs better and can be used in any solar system to extract the maximum power from it which is validated with the reference work. The work in this book is a complete review of applications on different configurations of PV-battery stand-alone system.
